Network models for maximization of heat transfer under weight constraints
نویسندگان
چکیده
Of concern is a network in which the conductance of certain branches are variable. The problem posed is the maximization of the joint conductance subject to a bound on the <t norm of the variable conductances. It is shown that at P an optimum state the conductance of a variable branch is proportional to the 2/(p+l) power of the current through the branch. l*his relation together with a dual variational principle leads to a "duality inequality giving sharp upper and lower estimates of the maximum joint conductance. Such a network serves as a discrete model for a cooling fin subject to a weight limitation. Thus the model shows what analogous properties should hold for the cooling fin. Study of flow and heat transfer characteristics in a periodic zigzag channel for cooling of polymer electrolyte fuel cells
In this study, a periodic zigzag channel with rectangular cross-section has been used in order to obtain a high-efficiency system for cooling a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. An appropriate function of fuel cells and enhancement of their lifetime require uniform temperature conditions of around 80°C. On the other hand, due to volume and weight constraints, a low-density compact heat exchanger i...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation on CuO/Water Nanofluid Effect on the Heat Transfer Rate of Heat Pipe Network
In this study, a new configuration of heat pipes as Heat Pipe Network is introduced. Here, the heat pipe network is designed, constructed and then has been under the performance assessment. This heat pipe network consists of 4 vertical heat pipes connected to evaporator collector from bottom and condenser collector from top. In order to investigate the effect of nanofluids on the thermal effici...
متن کاملHeat Transfer Study of Perforated Fin under Forced Convection
Fins are protrusions on a heat transfer surface to augment heat transfer rate from it. The increase in area exposed to convection in case of finned surfaces results in increased heat transfer rate. In this study heat transfer characteristics of a pin fin with perforation is numerically analyzed. A pin fin is fabricated and experiments are done under forced convection conditions. The experimenta...
متن کاملCost Effective Heat Exchanger Network Design with Mixed Materials of Construction
This paper presents a simple methodology for cost estimation of a near optimal heat exchanger network, which comprises mixed materials of construction. Intraditional pinch technology and mathematical programming it is usually assumed that all heat exchangers in a network obey a single cost model. This implies that all heat exchangers in a network are of the same type and use the same mate...
متن کاملکاربرد مدل های k-? خطی و غیر خطی در پیش بینی جریان و انتقال حرارت جا به جائی در کانال های با موانع منفصل
Roughness elements or turbulence promoters have been widely used to enhance heat transfer in cooling passages of modern gas turbine blades. Although such ribs substantially enhance heat transfer, the heat transfer coefficient is reduced immediately at corner downstream of each rib, creating hot spots. To remove such hot spots some of the ribs can be detached from the channel walls. In this pape...
